Summer plans

Hello everybody, today i’m going to talk about my summer plans.

Well, in this summer I have planned to do many things.

In first place, in January I have planned to participate in an artistic workshop, executed in the Barrio Yungay with children and young immigrants. Well, here I participate like monitor, in the area of the music. Usually, in the workshop of music we prepare the children and youth to participate in the carnival executed in the same neighborhood. So, I will be engaged to help in this. Also in my free time, I look forward to working to raise money to go out of Santiago in February.

Once the music workshop is completed and manages to accumulate enough money, I hope to travel outside Santiago with friends. I would like to go to southern Chile. Mainly, I hope to go to Chiloe, and visit all the major cities of the island: Ancud, Castro and Quellon. Here, I would like to visit all the tourist attractions of the island, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of national parks and reserves. 

Also, if the money reaches me, I would like to travel to the Magallanes Region to meet the southernmost region of the world. Here, I would like to visit the Martín Gusinde Museum in Puerto Williams, to learn more about our native peoples: The Yaganes, Selknam and  Kaweshkar. Also, I hope to see all the flora and fauna of the region, and get many pictures

My favourite piece of art

Hello everybody. Today I’m going to talk about of my favourite of piece of art.

 

One of my favourite of piece of art is this collage with different drawings of cats by Louis Wain.

Louis Wain was a painter who specialized in drawing animals, mainly cats. His career was very successful. He work for various magazines and also he presented his drawings for many agriculture fairs. During this period, his work includes a wide variety of animals, and maintained its ability to draw all creatures throughout his life, but definitely he liked makes cat.  The writer H. G.  Wells said of Wain: "He has made the cat his own. He invented a cat style, a cat society, a whole cat world. English cats that do not look and live like Louis Wain cats are ashamed of themselves."

In his last year of life, it was said he suffered from schizophrenia, but he continued to draw until his death. According to psychiatrists, his last paintings give clear indications of his schizophrenia, because the sense of the reality and the form in his paintings was completely lost.

Well, the amazing thing is that this collage these drawings performed as his schizophrenia was advancing. You can be seen as lines of cats lose the way, becoming a dispersion of forms and colors. This is incredible!.

      A photograph i like.

Hello everybody!! Today I’m going to talk about once of my favourites photos who I have taken.

Well, I took this photo in my last vacation when I went to Puerto Montt with my family. In this travel we went to a lot of beautiful place like the Llanquihue Lake, the Osorno Volcano and Petrohue Waterfalls.

This Photo was taken for me in the Petrohue Waterfalls, where  was also possible to see the Osorno Volcano. The scenery was wonderful.  I and my family took a lot of pictures, because we like the landscape.

I like a lot to take pictures of landscapes, even more than take pictures of people. On this trip to southern Chile, I took more than a thousand pictures. I did not take more pictures because the memory of my camera was completely filled.

Well, in this travel also we went to Chiloe, where we saw other wonderful places. In addition, we ate a lot of food, like empanadas and local fish, which was very fresh. Also we traveled by boat for different lakes and rivers. Well, in the end, this trip was wonderful and this photo proves that.

If I won the lottery.

If I won the lottery I would take the money for a lot of things. First, I travel around the country, knowing from South to North the great variety of landscapes with my family. I probably would travel to places like Antarctica, Chiloe Island or the Atacama Desert.

After getting tired of the beautiful Chilean landscapes, I would travel for the world, visiting Europe, Africa and some Latin American countries like Brazil or Cuba. In these countries I would visit all the places that money would allow me.

Then, with the money on me, i will invest in the installation of a bar in Santiago. With this I could subsist throughout my life, selling exquisite drinks to people, making them very happy. In addition, I i will invest the money in building a music store, where to offer a lot of musical instruments of high quality for sale , but affordable.

Also with the money, i would help my family with their debts and help them to buy all the things they need. I tried that each member of my family can live comfortably.

A super power I would like to have

A power I would like to have is to teleport anywhere in the world in one second. With this power I could go where I wanted without the need the use the transport, like the bus or the airplane.  I wouldn’t have the need to take the bus or subway when they are full for go to the university. This would be a great relief to me, and I would not be late for the university classes or anything.

With this super power also could teleport to a bank without anyone noticing and steal money for my family. Also, I could go to Vatican and steal their secrets or could go to Hangar 18 to know the information about extraterrestrial life.

Anyway, I could make a lot of interesting things and discover a lot of secrets in the world. This super power could be amazing. 

My best concert ever.

The best concert I've been was conducted by the Armenian/American band System of a Down in  Florida stadium in 2011. This is one of my favourite band because this have an unique style of music that mix rock, metal, oriental music and even circus music.                                                                      

The band consists of four members: Serj Tankian in the voice, Daron Malakian in guitar, Shavo Odadjian in bass and John Dolmayan in drums. The concert of 2011 was amazing because the band It had been separated about 5 years, so this was one of his first concerts after reuniting.

I went with three friends to concert. We were very anxious before the concert began, but with the first chords of guitarist Daron Malakian we joined at the euphoria of the public. We jumped and sang all the concert. This was very amazing, we finished very tired at the end of this, but did not matter because we were very happy. This was one of the best experiences of my life.

A country i’d like to visit.

Well, a country I’d like to visit is Cuba. This country has an important history in Latin America.  Cuba is the only country in Latin America with a communist government, led by Fidel Castro's brother: Raul Castro.

This country has free health and education, and high human development index as indicated by PNUD. So, this is a nice place to visit. Also this has nice place like Paraiso’s beach, the Old Habana city, Catedral Square among other tourist attractions.

Also, I would like to enjoy in the summer of the International Jazz Festival, and listen the amazing cuban music whit their fusion of jazz and Latin American music. This is one of my desires.

I'd like to study here if a could, because here the education is free and this is the quality. I would like to continue my studies in sociology in Cuba, and studies on how people live in Cuba, for later exhibit in Chile on my results and show that other forms of life are possible.

A TV programme I saw as a child

As a child, one of my favorite shows was "Dragon Ball". I used to see this every day because I was a fan of this program. It consisted in recounting the adventures of Goku, who was a strong boy who liked to fight with stronger opponents. The story of "Dragon Ball" began when Goku was known with Bulma. This meeting led to both seek seven Dragon Balls. If they managed to collect the seven spheres, they could invoke a great dragon which could fulfill any wish they asked him. But in their search were a number of opponents who were also seeking the spheres, so that led to unleash a series of adventures and exciting fights.



Well, I saw all the episodes of this series, because I greatly enjoyed watching it. I always dreamed of being as strong as Goku and have in my possession the seven dragon balls to ask my desires to the dragon. My fanaticism was so great that once I disguise like Goku to a costume party in Kinder, wearing the same clothes and  a putting myself a wig, which reaches me to become for a moment in my favorite character of the TV programme and impress to my friends.

Erving Goffman and his concept of Stigma.

Erving Goffman a Canadian-born sociologist and writer, was considered "the most influential American sociologist of the twentieth century".  His best-known contribution to social theory is his study of symbolic interaction. His innovation was to introduce the dramaturgical analysis in his 1959 book, The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life. Goffman's other major works include Asylums (1961), Stigma (1963), Interaction Ritual (1967), Frame Analysis (1974), and Forms of Talk (1981) 

The concept of Stigma.

The stigma is an atribute that transform to the person. The person is rejected, because the atribute produces disparagement ( or discredit). In sociological words, stigma is a relation between an atribute and stereotype. 

Goffman determined 3 types of stigma:

1-Abominations of body: Overt or external deformations, such as scars, physical manifestations of anorexia, leprosy , or of a physical disability or social disability, such as obesity.

2-Deviations in personal traits, including mental illness, drug addiction, alcoholism, and criminal background are stigmatized in this way.

3-Tribal stigmas- its are traits, imagined or real, of ethnic group, nationality, or of religion that is deemed to be a deviation from the prevailing normative  of ethnicity, nationality or religion.

In the stigmatic person's encounter with  the normal person, the sociology can identify two moments:

 1-The normal persons, think that the stigmatic person is not human, because, the human are normal. Therefore, the normal persons prefers move away of the stigmatic people.

2-The stigmatic person can feel disgrace and fear, because, he doesn't want to be discriminated. Therefore, the stigmatic person will try hide your stigma.

The sociology identify a problem, because, for the stigmatic persons, the social identity is built on its stigma. So, the stigmatic person will try eliminate the stigma.

The stigmatic person want  to relate with the normal people, therefore, he must control the information about his stigma. Goffman calls “the concealment” to the “moral career” that the stigmatic person must follow for live in society.  In other words, the stigmatic people must hide his stigma, cover his body, lie, and he have to go to places where his sitgma is normal. For example a hospital, community of ill people, places where  stigma is not a problem for live in community.

A Photograph I like

Today, i’ m going to talk about a photograph who i like very much.

This photo was taken by my brother in Hornopiren in the Region de los Lagos. Hornopiren is at the beginning of the road austral of chile who connected  the Region de los Rios with the Region de los Lagos.

This place is very beautiful and quiet.  I enjoyed my stay here when I came in 2014 for my vacation. This photography I like very much because show the amazing landscape of southern Chile. Also I like because it remind me when I stay here with my family and we had good times.

Every time I see this photo makes me want to go back to Hornopiren to enjoy the nature and tranquility away from the ugly and contaminated city of Santiago. I expect for the next vacation visit beautiful places like this.

Expectations for a new semester

Hello in this post i'm going to talk about my subject. If you are student  or are interested in the sociology this post could be like you a lot. 

In this term i'm doing a lot of difficult subjects like Sociological Theory III, Qualitative Techniques I and Statistic IV. Also I have Sociology of Culture, Political Sociology, and English III. All these, my favourite subject is Political Sociology, because the professor is very funny, he makes a lot of jokes in class that make me laugh.

In addition to this, I take the elective course of Sociology City, because I'm very interested in the changes that has taken the city in the last time. 

All these courses, don't give me much time for other activities in the univeristy, but I hope to participe in other things, like cultural and artistic activities.

Well, I expect to survive this new academic period, passing all subjects and bringing new experiences that will make me a better person.

Post1-A country I'd like to visit

Hello everyone!! My name is Claudio and in this blog i'll to write about thoughts, experiences and whole lot more. 

In mi first post I want to talk about a country I'd like to visit.

I wish to go to Germany, the country of the BEER. This is one of the best place in produce beer in the world. The variety of beer in Germany is unlimited, each locality has its own style and is not uncommon in some localities craft beer, or even clubs with a long tradition of brewing your own style. But not only beer is what the Germans have good, also have a lot of interest thing, such as its gran architectura in their cities and beautiful scenery. 

Germany is a country full of history, protagonist of two world war, and internal division  that led to the construction of a wall who separating the eastern and west germany. Its streets are marked by this. Also great people born here, as philosophers Marx, Nietzsche, Hegel, or the writters Brecht, Hesse or Goethe.

If i visit Germany i would like to make a lot of thing. In first place i like to go to Oktoberkest, one of the biggest parties of Germany who lasts 16 to 18 days. In this party i drink a lot of diferent beers. Also, i like to visit the Colonia's Cathedral, Bradenburg Gate and Bayern Munich stadium who are amazing place from Germany.

I'd like to study here if a could, because this is a great country, with lots of beer.
